A Friend To Talk With - Tag Lyanna

The wights were everywhere. Meera fought against them while she tried to protect her brother Jojen. She could hear Bran somewhere in the distance, but she couldn't see him. She had just killed one of the wights when she saw her brother being stabbed by them. "Jojen!" Meera cried as she woke up. It was just a nightmare. Again. She moaned as she got up from the bed. She had a lot of nightmares of that event lately. And it made her crazy. It was a long time ago now, but still the memory was so fresh in her memory. She dressed herself and walked out. It was so silent now ever since Nita married. She really missed her daughter and Greta too. She sat down on a bench, trying to calm down a bit. Just thinking about those wights made her shiver. Suddenly she heard someone approach by horse, she rose up from the bench. She had to cover her eyes against the sun to see who it was.

In the past months surely a lot had happened. Weddings between people of families of name have been celebrated all over Westeros, a deadly plague was scaring the people to death and over all news of white walkers were spreading and rising. It surely was time to talk to a friend, a best friend with who she even had quite some history together.
After she had ridden for quite some time now she finally reached Greywater Watch to pay Meera a visit who, to her suprise, almost seemed to already have been waiting for her. Approaching her friend carefully Lyanna just got off her horse few meters away from the bench Meera was sitting on and greeted her with a big smile as she got closer. "Meera!"

Her lips turned into a big smile once she saw Lyanna. "Lyanna, how nice to see you!" she said after giving her a hug. She surely needed her best friend now. One of the stable boys took care of Lyannas horse and they were heading inside. "I'm really glad you came."

Hugging her friend back she gently stroked over her back before they both moved to go inside the castle. "Oh well what can I say, I guess I just have grown a quite good feeling when you need me." She replied chuckeling as Lyanna was led through the corridors.

"Yes, it's been so quiet here after Nita got married," Meera replied sitting down on a coach nearby the fireplace. And as usual, one of her cats arrived and curled herself upon her lap. It was white with black paws and ears. The cat looked at Meera with beautiful green eyes. Meera wondered if the cat was having kittens. "And Greta is pregnant," she said with a smile.

Lyanna smiled warmly at Meera and chuckled as a cat just joined them on the coach. "Oh that surely are great news about Greta! After all I heard she surely married into a good family. Same goes for Nita! Oh I just hope Urduja will be able to find such a great match like Nita."

"I admit, I was a bit sceptical once I heard that she was marrying Daemon Lannister. But they're perfectly made for each other." The cat poked her cheek, demanding to be cuddled. "And Nita and Garrett are also perfect together." She looked up at Lyanna. "After what I know, Garrett's twin brother, Cedric is not engaged. A really cute and handsome man. Maybe he could be perfect for Urduja?" Meera really liked both of the twins. Garrett was the one who was serious, while Cedric was the one cheering people up.

"Cedric huh?" She repeated as she was thinking, trying to remember what she had seen and heard about him so far. "Indeed he might be a good match but knowing my daughter it still will be hard to convince her." She said with a sigh though still smiling. Oh her beloved daughter surely had quite a lot of both her parents inside her. Turning back to Meera she now looked a little worried. "There is something heavy on your mind isn´t it?"

"Isn't grandchildren good reason enough?" Meera joked. She really hoped that Nita would be pregnant soon. Then Greta's child would have a playmate. Meera sighed as she noticed Lyanna looked a bit worried. "I'm having a lot of nightmares," Meera admitted. "About Jojen."

"I see." She said putting a hand of hers gently on Meeras shoulder. "Want to tell me about it?"

She forced herself to not cry. "We were protecting Bran Stark when Winterfell fell," Meera began. "It's a very long and complicated story. But we did our best to not be discovered while we travelled north."

Taking Meera now in her arm she comforted her friend. "Go ahead, and don´t fear to cry. It´s just me you know."

Meera took a deep breath and tried to find the right words. "Jojen had a task, and it was to bring Bran to someone. But to get there, we had to cross the wall."

"The wall?" Lyanna repeated in suprise. "This surely is something but please, continue."

"Jojen was gifted with green dreams," Meera explained. "He dreamed that a three eyed crow tried to free a wolf, chained in a chair. Jojen just knew that Bran needed to get to him. So we were heading to north and crossed the wall with the help from Jon Targaryens friend, Samwell Tarly." Meera did remember how he had captured Sam in her fishnet. "And from there we travelled for many days until we reached a cave. But then the wights attacked us." Meera closed her eyes once she mentioned the wights.

Moving closer to Meera she hugged her friends again, almost knowing what she would tell next.

"I was the only one who could fight. So I tried to protect Jojen and the others." Her tears started to roll down her face. "But then Jojen got stabbed by one of them." Her body started to shake when she told the rest. "The last of the children of the forest came to our aid. But it was to late for Jojen, so I... I... had to... give him the gift of mercy!" Meera covered her face while she sobbed.

"Shhh it´s alright. You have done your best and prevented a much more terrible fate for him." She said, hugging her even tighter and gently stroke over her hair.

Meera still cried while Lyanna hugged her. "It's not just that," Meera said after a while. "When we met the Three eyed Crow, he told me that Jojen knew all the time that he was going to die like that." She was both sad and angry at the same time. "He knew, and he didn't even try to fight against his fate."

Lyanna only continued to comfort her friend. "If it really was his fate then he couldn´t have done anything against it anyways. Furthermore he rather faced it very bravely and made the best of it he could do. You should be proud of him! "

Proud. Yes, she should be proud of him. But she didn't. She felt sad and angry at the same time. She had felt alone when Bran was alone with the Three eyed Crow, taking his lessons in skin changing and how to fly through it. She had wandered alone in the tunnels, seeing the children of the forest. But only Leaf was the one who could speak the common tongue.

Feeling that there was more than only Jojens death itself Lyanna now also stroke Meeras back, trying to comfort her some more.

"I'm scared," Meera admitted after a while. "When Nita was a child, I discovered that she have the ability of the greensight. I'm scared that she too will suffer the same fate as Jojen."
