John was astounded that the girl was already starting to walk away. Not only was she turning her back on him before he was gone, she was also letting him see which direction her camp was in. If she had kept that up for long enough he would have lost her footprints as well. It crossed his mind that she could be attempting to fool him, walking in another direction, but from what he had seen of the girl, that kind of outmanouvering was unlikely from her. She just wasn't that clever.
"I'm sure we'll meet again," he said, mostly as a warning, but also as a smug remark. He didn't even know her name, but he would be sure to remember this girl. He would have a ton of fun watching her despaired expression once his men rode into her camp later on. With that he turned his horse and rode back the way he had come. He had to meet up with his men and arrange a plan.
