DeathBirds and a crow in the snow Empty
PostSubject: DeathBirds and a crow in the snow   DeathBirds and a crow in the snow EmptyFri Aug 22, 2014 11:21 pm

For 2 weeks it has been snowing like hell, even for the very north of Westeros but today the snow finally seemed to have stopped for a bit so Naerys and her twin brother Norjen could finally go hunting again. Of course they could have tried during the snow days too but the vision was always bad and even if Norjen was a warg, it took often enough a awefully long time until they could find some animals and it wasn´t even sure that they would actually be the first ones to arrive and kill them.

Naerys kneed in the snow to look carefully at the foot prints in the snow. Rabbits, she thought to herself and stood up again. They probably won´t be enough to satisfy the hunger for long but depending on the number Naerys and Norjen would have enough to eat for a few days. She turned around and looked at her brother. Of course, as always, he was ready to move right away. They followed the footprints about one mile until they found what they looked for and even more.

Immediately Naerys hid behind a tree. The rabbits where there just as she thought but also a crow. He seemed to be alone but Naerys was sure more of them wouldn´t be too far away as well. She looked at her brother readying her bow.

Aladdin sighed softly in irritation as he ventured out beyond the wall into the woods to search for some wood. He cringed immediately at the sight of his cold smoke that his breathing was causing. Oh how he hated the cold. One of the reasons to why he loved the warm areas more when traveling with his parents. Being in the areas where it was snowing and cold had been aggravating for the young crow. It was perhaps his dornish blood that made him hate the harsh cold weather. And now he was going to be stuck in this place for the rest of his life, being ordered around and training to defend the wall. Guess he was just going to have to deal with it.

The young crow thought this as he started to gather some wood that seemed good enough to burn and take back to the wall. In the corner of his eyes, he immediately spotted a few rabbits near him. They didn't even look up to stare at him or hop off. Were there things more frightening to them in the woods than wildings and crows? There were rumors of such. Aladdin was about to look away from the rabbits that is until he saw one of the rabbits look up and stared out the trees, it's ear flickering. He quickly pulled out his sword, wincing a bit at the heaviness of the weapon in his hands which felt cold and hard due to the weather. "Come out." He demanded sternly, though he'd actually didn't want to be confronting anyone really. But the others weren't that far away. He was more used to light swords as well. Hopefully his officers will know of this when he trained, and they'd give him a lighter weapon.

As he walked with Naerys toward their future prey, Norjen was watching the forest with a predatory attention, trying to observe every move and to hear every sound in the snow. The immaculate whitness was only decorated by a few foot prints, almost erased by the wind. Following with ease his twin sister on the cold ground, he tried to feel the presence of his eagle, Mahal, who was certainly not far away from them. Their current prey didn't needed the use of his gift, however, the bird of prey could always alert them from any danger, which could be really useful sometimes...

When they suddenly caught sight of the crow, Naerys and him moved in a same silent movement, almost feline and stayed still while watching cautiously the other man. Norjen looked at his sister as she was readying her bow then returned to his observation of the man. They were two when he was alone, but they weren't fools to ignore that he was certainly not the only crow in those woods.

As he heard the man's order, he tightened his grip on his spear and gave his sister a slight nod, silently telling her to not act before his signal. Maybe they could avoid a fight with the crow by not showing any treacherous sign but if the man ever tried to attack him, Naerys will be here to protect her brother with her deadly arrows. Slowly, he moved toward the crow, his movements calculated to not being interpreted as dangerous, and stopped a few paces from the other man. He eyed him with his sharped look, ready to fight if it was needed and let his warm voice fill the air. "You wanted me, here I am, Crow."

Naerys stayed behind the tree like her brother told her to, oberserving him as well as the crow. If that guy would dare to attack Norjen, Naerys arrows would kill him before he even noticed. You better do nothing you´ll only regret little crow.

Aladdin posture stiffened at the sight of the wilding that stepped out in his sights. He blinked in surprise to see that the wilding had walked out, though he was a bit suspicious of the spear in the male's hand. Though his warm voice was warm and his movements did not seem dangerous. Aladdin slowly lowered his sword with a puzzled expression. Hadn't the brothers of the night's watch spoke of wildings that attacked crows immediately and without mercy? He gritted his teeth slightly in annoyance. Such rumors seemed a bit fake due to the fact that the wilding had made no sudden dangerous movement to him. But he couldn't be alone for sure. "I see that. But you can't possibly be alone though...And neither am I." he remarked out, tilting his head at the wilding male.

He lowered his sword a bit more so it presumed that he was in a defense stance than offence. The weight on his hands were better now since he lowered the heavy sword. Since the wilding showed no movement of attacking then he'd best do the same. Lest things would turn out ugly for either of them. His eyes traveled over to the rabbits before back to the wilding. "I'm not out here to fight. Just looking for firewood..." He said out in a calm, quiet tone.

The grip on his spear relaxed a little, just enough to make him appear less hostile toward the crow who was watching as if he didn't knew what to do of him. Norjen must admit that he had been quite surprised that the other man hadn't attacked him yet : all the free men knew that once a crow had saw you, you only had to fight for your life, nothing else. This one however, had not showed any sign of aggressiveness.

"Only a fool would walk in those woods alone." He wasn't lying, this was the truth for both sides. If a crow was alone there a few days, he'll die. The same could apply to his kind. He saw the young crow lowered his sword, analyzing a possible tentative to trick him but there was none: just as him, this man didn't wanted to fight. "I am not here to fight either, Crow." He pointed at the rabbits who were some paces away with a slight nod, before looking straight in the eyes of the young man. "Just hunting."

The corner of his lips quirked at this statement, finding this to be the truth while amusing at the same time. Aladdin nodded his head a bit at it. "Indeed." Although he had a feeling that the wilding's companions were closer than his. But this didn't bother him much, especially due that the wilding didn't seem hostile at all. This assumption made Aladdin return the heavy sword back to it's sheath, leaving him temporarily unarmed.

"Well that's a relief and a surprise at the least." He wrinkles his nose at the name that the brother's of the watch were called. He was not the least a crow, especially since he hadn't been at the Night's Watch for long. He then followed the male's gaze to the rabbits, nodding his head. "I see. We're both on a little...mission of ours." He had a feeling that was the reason for the wilding being so close to the area where the rabbits were. Feeling a bit better that the wilding hadn't had another mission in mind of killing a crow.

As he watched the crow return his sword back to its sheath, Norjen couldn't help but wonder if this man know how weak he seemed like that : young, unarmed in the wild cold... A surprising view, he thought. He lowered his spear and his body relaxed a little, knowing that his sister was watching over him.

A imperceptible smirk appeared on his lips as the crow mentioned how surprising it was for a wilding to avoid a fight. "For a crow, you are quite surprising yourself." His face become once more unreadable as his warm voice came out a new time. "To not attack a freeman..." He looked at the rabbits, noting how Naerys could kill some with her arrows. Maybe three or four at least, he thought. Yes, they'll eat tonight.

His look turned back on the crow in front of him, noticing his slight relief at knowing that Norjen wasn't here to kill a crow. "Indeed." He looked at the wood of the crow as it was laying on the freezing ground and repressed a smirk to appear once more on his lips. The crows will have some problems with their fire tonight. "Even if yours seems to be too... wet now."

Aladdin noticed that the wilding male had relaxed more in front of him, lowering his spear. It did seem a bit extreme to put his weapon away. But Aladdin would be capable to defend himself without it for a short while if he was attacked. He was quick and agile on his feet due to his training in Dorne.

He shrugged his shoulders lightly at the man's comment of him being surprising as well too. "I'm new to the crows unfortunately due to certain circumstances." he remarked with a slight frown. Aladdin had only chosen this over death because he wanted to live. Though one day, he would choose to escape this place and travel out to Essos. "You didn't attack me. So I think the brotherhood really takes it to the extremes about wildings." he added, glancing behind his shoulder at the wall, that could be seen above the trees.

Aladdin then glanced down at the ground, spotting his firewood on the ground in the snow. He cursed softly under his breath as he hastily picked up the wood before looking up at the wilding. "Oh well...it was damp before as well. Have to do, I guess." Aladdin scoffed softly.

(OOC: *Huggles* It's alright! <3)

The young warrior frowned slightly, not really sure about how reacting to those informations coming from the crow. The men of the wall weren't usually this talkative but there again, this one seemed far too different from all the others who had crossed the path of the twins. Too honest for being in the order since long, he thought. Maybe not as savage as well...

Your kind isn't really wrong about my people.” His face closed imperceptibly while remembering how bloodthirsty himself could be when protecting Naerys. “Some of my people live for blood and ruin. Others just struggle to survive during the long winters... When attacked on our land, most of us return the favour.

He didn't miss the glance of the other man toward the wall, nor did act upon it. If the crow decided to walk back, he'll not intervene. While looking at the younger man picking up the wood, Norjen made a slight movement of the hand, letting his twin know that she could came out. They're were safe... For now. “The better wood can be found under rocks or dirt. These,” he said, while pointing at the wood the young crow was carrying, “will be sufficient. You have good eyes, Crow.

Aladdin tilted his head to the side at the wilding's remark about the rumors that the crows spoke about the wildings were true. To a point really. Especially since he was still standing before two wildings, alive . "Well I'm a bit relieved that I didn't run into those who'd seek vengeance upon crows." He was pretty much of an errand boy right now in the night's watch. So he wasn't going to be attacking any wildings any time soon. Hopefully.

He slightly shrugged his shoulders, chuckling a bit under his breath. His eyes gleamed with amusement. "Thanks for the tip. Though it's pretty odd." he remarked, glancing down at the wood in his arms. Well at least he knew that he had picked out the right wood. He was used to the warm weather, so searching for thing such as wood to gain warmth from fires wasn't really in his book of known abilities. "I'm going to need them since I'm stuck here." But not for much long. He was going to escape to Essos.

Nearys rolled her eyes as they kept on talking and talking. If her and Norjen wouldn´t be of the freefolk and this crow wouldn´t be ... a crow it could have easily been a tea party. However she still was very glad that this crow didn´t seem to be dangerous at all ... for now so she didn´t hesitate to show herself as her brother gave her the sign. "Now then if you´re done talking how about we go our own ways before your crow brothers miss you."
